BRAND NEW MUM
Congratulations from I Want That 4 My Baby

SLEEP WHEN YOU CAN - It doesn't matter if it's the middle of the day if baby is asleep everything else will wait ... have a rest.

ACCEPT HELP WHEN IT IS OFFERED - People rarely offer help unless they are willing to give it (at least not twice!) so if it is offered say yes and have a little "me time".

DON'T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT ASKING FOR HELP - You are not Superwoman and much as you want to be able to cope with everything you must be realistic. Don't wait until you feel desperate to ask for help and don't feel guilty when you ask.

PRIORITISE - Some things will have to wait. If the phone rings you don't have to answer it and if you have to leave the hoovering for a few days so be it. Spending quality time with your baby and taking care of yourself is important.

INCLUDE YOUR MOTHER IN LAW - You will naturally lean towards asking your mum for help but your mother in law will be longing for some grandma time and happy to lend a hand.

DO NOT DIET - Now is not the time ... you need all of your energy.

JOIN A MOTHER AND BABY GROUP - When you are ready join a local group, this will benefit you and your baby. If you are close enough to walk to the venue that's even better ... you can enjoy the fresh air and relax a little while you walk.

SHARE THE BABY CARE WITH YOUR PARTNER - It's natural to feel protective and also to think that no one can care for your baby quite like you can but your partner is already dealing with having to share you with your newborn and may take it badly if he thinks you don't trust him.

DID YOU KNOW? - New babies are unable to produce tears until they are 3 to 6 weeks old and even then may not be able to produce them at night.

MAKE THE MOST OF HOME DELIVERY - On line shopping can really take the pressure off. If you haven't shopped on line before check out the Consumer Direct Safe Online Shopping information page for useful tips.
